In Apex Legends, Ranked measures you with Ranked Points (RP). You climb from Rookie through Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond to Master; above that sits the Apex Predator title for the top 750 Masters per platform. Twice per season a Ranked split partially resets your RP.

All ranked tiers in order

EA lists the fixed tiers from lowest to highest. Rookie through Diamond each have four divisions (IV lowest, I highest). Master has no divisions. Apex Predator is not a normal division tier – it is the live title for the top 750 Masters on each platform.

  1. 08 Apex Predator Top 750 Masters / platform
  2. 07 Master no divisions

Rookie is EA’s introductory tier for new Ranked players. Once you leave Rookie, you are not placed back into it.

RP to climb (division to division)

Per EA, the RP needed for the next division step depends on your tier:

  • Rookie: 250 RP
  • Bronze: 500 RP
  • Silver IV→III, III→II, II→I: 500 RP each; Silver I→Gold IV: 750 RP
  • Gold: 750 RP
  • Platinum IV→III, III→II: 750 RP each; Platinum II→I and Platinum I→Diamond IV: 1,000 RP each
  • Diamond: 1,000 RP

EA’s example: climbing Bronze II to Bronze I takes 500 RP.

Entry cost

Every Ranked match costs RP. The fee rises with your tier; a poor placement can leave you below your starting RP:

Rank Entry cost
Rookie 0 RP
Bronze 10 RP
Silver 20 RP
Gold 38 RP
Platinum 48 RP
Diamond 65 RP
Master / Predator 90 RP

How you earn RP

Per EA, RP comes mainly from placement, eliminations (kills and assists), and bonuses – not heals or revives:

  • A kill or assist counts as one kill; participation without dealing damage counts as half a kill.
  • Kill value scales with your final placement (higher place = more per kill).
  • Beyond eight kills/assists/participations, further elimination value is halved.
  • Bonus for eliminating higher-ranked opponents: +15% (1 tier), +25% (2), +35% (3), +50% (4+ tiers).
  • Top-five streak: from the second consecutive top-five onward (10 → 20 → 30 → 40 RP), then 40 RP per further top-five; resets if you place 6th or lower.

EA notes that scoring can change each season – check current news and patch notes.

Access: Road to Ranked

New and under Level 20: complete the Road to Ranked challenges (three sets). Anyone who already had Ranked access before those challenges launched keeps access, per EA.

Season reset and Split 2

There are two resets per season: season start and the announced Split 2.

Season start: you receive a starting tier close to your hidden MMR. New to Ranked: Unranked Trios MMR is used.

Split 2 (per EA Help):

  • Bronze IV–I → Bronze IV (1,000 RP)
  • Silver IV–I → Silver IV (3,250 RP, +250 demotion protection)
  • Gold IV–I → Gold IV (5,750 RP, +250 demotion protection)
  • Platinum IV–I → Platinum IV (8,750 RP, +250 demotion protection)
  • Diamond IV and III → Platinum III (9,250 RP)
  • Diamond II and I → Platinum II (10,000 RP)
  • Master and above → Platinum I (11,000 RP)

End-of-season rewards use your highest rank from Split 1 or Split 2. Matching that rank again in Split 2 unlocks the animated badge variant, per EA.

Party rules and Predators

Everyone in a Ranked premade must be within two ranks of each other (EA example: Bronze can play with Rookie through Gold, not Platinum+). Matchmaking uses the highest RP in the premade. Temporary matchmaking tests can change rules – watch patch notes.

Apex Predator: the top 750 players per platform in Master. In-match Auras reflect your current season rank (Predator = red).

Ranked Ladders

Alongside the season ladder, weekly Ranked Ladders run Tuesday–Sunday: boards of up to 100 players by hidden skill. Score = your five best Ranked RP scores; you need at least five Ranked matches (cross-play on). Rewards follow finish tier (top 10%, 10–30%, 30–50%, remainder).

Matching hardware for Apex Legends

Aim, audio cues and squad callouts benefit from a solid mouse and headset. Starting points:

Two example products (manufacturer specs, not our own tests):

Lightweight wireless mouse: Logitech G PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2

Ambidextrous, wireless (LIGHTSPEED), about 60 g with HERO 2 sensor per the manufacturer – typical for low-sens BR/FPS setups.
