Since Ranked 3.0 (introduced with Year 11 Season 2), Rainbow Six Siege rates you in Ranked purely through your visible Rank Points (RP). Ubisoft removed hidden MMR; in its own words, "your skill is truly your rank". Ranked 3.0 also brought placement matches, squad restrictions, a new rewards track and five divisions for Champion. Season 3 (Operation Split Fire) then added the Legend Division for the very top.
Here are all ranks in order, how you climb, and what you need before your first Ranked match.
All ranks in order
Ranked 3.0 has eight ranks. Each rank has five divisions: V is the lowest, I the highest. Since Ranked 3.0, Champion also has five divisions, "matching the rest of the Ranked ladder", as Ubisoft puts it. That makes 40 steps in total.
- 08 Champion V · IV · III · II · I
- 07 Diamond V · IV · III · II · I
- 06 Emerald V · IV · III · II · I
- 05 Platinum V · IV · III · II · I
- 04 Gold V · IV · III · II · I
- 03 Silver V · IV · III · II · I
- 02 Bronze V · IV · III · II · I
- 01 Copper V · IV · III · II · I
| Rank | Divisions |
|---|---|
| Copper | V, IV, III, II, I |
| Bronze | V, IV, III, II, I |
| Silver | V, IV, III, II, I |
| Gold | V, IV, III, II, I |
| Platinum | V, IV, III, II, I |
| Emerald | V, IV, III, II, I |
| Diamond | V, IV, III, II, I |
| Champion | V, IV, III, II, I |
The highest rank is Champion I. Above it, since Season 3, sits the Legend Division. It isn't a ninth rank everyone climbs through but a separate playlist with its own leaderboard (more below).
Rank Points: how you climb
After every Ranked match you gain or lose Rank Points. According to Ubisoft, the amount depends on two things:
- the match outcome (win or loss),
- the relative Rank balance of the two teams.
In practice: beating a stronger team grants more RP, beating a weaker team grants less. Losing to a lower-ranked team costs more RP. The post-match report shows exactly how your RP changed.
What matters for how you play: KDA doesn't count. In its June 2026 Community Checkpoint, Ubisoft confirmed that kills and deaths are not a factor in rank progression. Siege rewards team wins; support, drone intel and utility can be just as impactful as eliminations, according to Ubisoft. Based on player feedback, Ubisoft also introduced minimum RP gains so progression doesn't feel stalled.
RP-based matchmaking
Per Ubisoft, matchmaking now uses only your Rank Points, not MMR. Teams are balanced at the squad level first: if your squad has large Rank gaps, the system weights the team closer to its highest-ranked player. That also affects how much RP you win or lose.
Placement matches at season start
At the start of every season you play 5 Placement Matches before you receive your starting Rank. These matches grant increased RP gains so you get back to your previous-season level faster. After that, progression continues as normal.
Two details from the official information:
- Squad restrictions don't apply during placements, so you can queue with friends regardless of Rank.
- You can't place directly into Champion. Ubisoft wants Champion to stand for sustained high-level performance over the season, not a snapshot at the start.
Ubisoft has said it wants placements to carry more weight in future seasons. It hasn't put exact per-win placement RP values in writing in the Ranked 3.0 notes, so check the current patch notes each new season.
Demotion Shield
The Demotion Shield remains active in Ranked 3.0. If you would normally derank after a loss, the system can instead leave you at 0 RP in your current division. Per Ubisoft, this only applies if you started the match above 0 RP. Lose again right after, and you derank.
Squad restrictions
To avoid extreme Rank gaps, Ranked 3.0 introduced squad restrictions:
| Your rank | Who you can queue with |
|---|---|
| Copper to Emerald | teammates within 3 full Ranks |
| Diamond and Champion | teammates within 2 full Ranks |
A Gold player can, for example, queue with Copper through Emerald, but not with Champion. Diamond and Champion players have the tighter 2-Rank window. As mentioned above, placement matches are exempt.
Unlocking Ranked: what you need
Ubisoft says Siege offers permanent free access to Quick Match and Unranked with a selection of Operators. Ranked unlocks with a premium offer once you reach level 50.
On PC you also need 2-Step Verification (2SV) on your Ubisoft account; Ubisoft made it mandatory for Ranked on PC. On console, 2SV isn't required for Ranked, according to Ubisoft.
Competitive Rewards
Every Ranked match counts toward the Competitive Rewards track:
- 2 points per win,
- 1 point per loss.
Every 10 points unlocks a reward. Per Ubisoft, these alternate between Competitive Coins, Alpha Packs, a card background, a charm and, at 150 points, headgear. Rank-based rewards are tied to the highest Rank you reached during the season, even if you derank later.
Legend Division (from Season 3)
With Operation Split Fire (Year 11 Season 3), Ubisoft announced the Legend Division. It opens mid-season and replaces the leaderboard that previously lived at Champion I. Legend Division is a SoloQ-only playlist, so you play it without a squad.
Requirements per Ubisoft:
- reach Champion in the current season,
- reach at least Platinum in the previous season,
- a positive reputation standing,
- completed security requirements: on PC, the R6 ShieldGuard Secure Platform requires Secure Boot, Windows Memory Integrity (HVCI) and TPM 2.0, plus 2SV with an authenticator app.
When it opens, you lock your region and play for leaderboard positions. Anyone can view the regional leaderboards. Ubisoft says Legend players get a dynamic banner, and those who crack the top 100 receive a charm next season showing their final position, but only as long as they stay in the top 100.
Tips for climbing
These follow directly from the official rules:
- Take placements seriously. The first 5 matches grant increased RP. Play them focused, ideally with a practiced squad, since squad restrictions don't apply yet.
- Play for wins, not kills. KDA doesn't count. Drones, reinforcements and team utility help you more than risky frags.
- Pick your squad wisely. Large Rank gaps pull your team toward its highest player. A win against stronger opponents is worth more RP, but you'll lose more often too.
- Know the Demotion Shield. After a rescue at 0 RP, don't tilt-queue; the next loss deranks you.
- Use the map ban phase. Per Ubisoft, each match has 5 maps in the ban phase: 3 from the Pro Pool and 2 from the Seasonal Pool. Ban the maps your team doesn't know, and practice new maps in modes like Clear House.
